Who is Bob Dead?

An independent songwriter (BMI) available for remote and on-site composition, co-writing, and licensing of over one hundred original works. Songs written by consultation for all publications, occasions and venues.

Born in the mountains of North Carolina to a pastoring couple, I moved with my family's ministry to Fayetteville, NC before my first clear memories.

I entered public school in Altamonte Springs, FL and by third grade had spent a year in Alma, GA and arrived for the rest of my formative years in Durham, NC. I attended Brogden Middle where I took lessons as first chair trombone player in the Sixth grade band. I transferred to a charter school the following year where I learned to play viola in the orchestra program.

Throughout my childhood my mother's melodic and powerful voice and her daily piano playing in church and at home shaped my earliest musical experiences, while my father's words and sense of rhythm provided me with the foundations of my lyrical sensibilities.

I arrived in Lexington, SC a week late for school on my fifteenth birthday, and it was around this time that I discovered my love of theatre and the composition of music. I worked throughout high school on Fruity Loops and Reason, writing songs and exploring harmony and rhythm.
I picked up an acoustic guitar after meeting my musically inclined roommates at Middle Tennessee State University. I was introduced to world's of music that I had never experienced (The Beatles, Radiohead, Zeppelin etc.). I found myself alive with the sound of music in a new way.

That was fifteen years ago, and since then I have been writing and playing on the guitar everywhere I've gone. I have songs for every season and I continue to write and craft daily. Let me set your life to music!
